A South African police force has fired upon a group of rioting mine workers in Johannesburg, killing nine. Platinum has spiked up three percent as a result as fears that a disruption in supply may affect prices, while gold and silver have moved up as well. Platinum is still a bargain at 1460, despite high premiums on ounces and fractional coins. Limited supplies of platinum make the market especially vulnerable to supply interruptions.
