So you may have heard of Bitcoin. It’s been in the news quite a bit recently. We’ve decided to add it to our offerings so beginning June 1, 2017 Houston Gold Merchants will buy and sell gold and silver for Bitcoin or Ethereum. If you’re not familiar, it’s the virtual currency that is controlled by no particular bank, no particular country – it’s a great way to transact business between to parties without a middle man (this means you, Mr. Bank of America).
So what does that mean to you and me? Well, maybe not much if you’re not inclined to go online. If you’re still reading the news paper and getting your news from the 6 o’clock evening national newscast – maybe this next tidbit of information isn’t gonna do you a bit of good. And that’s fine. Gold and silver can still be purchased at our store in River Oaks for regular cash or cashier’s check.
But for those of you who fancy yourselves as techno-savvy, Houston Gold Merchants will sell you Bitcoin or Ethereum for gold and silver or vice versa. I can help you open a Coinbase account, trade on any of the exchanges or build up your supply of what many people believe will be the next technological advance. It may very well become the way we transact business in the future. Monetary exchange will be changed forever by Bitcoin and Ethereum and perhaps several other virtual currencies. There are currently more than 900 different available coins.
The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance is a group of tech and finance companies who are joining forces to develop protocols and best practices for the implementation of Ethereum. They are supporting the virtual currency as it grows into the most efficient way to move money around the globe. There will be a point in the future where the use of Ethereum (or a virtual currency like it) will be the de facto way that money is moved in the future economy.
For now Bitcoin and Ethereum are a wild ride – the market is still very young and the bulk of investors are young people and not seasoned traders so there are bound to be periods of great volatility. It’s not for the faint of heart, for sure. But if you’ve got some money that you’d like to see grow and you have nerves of steel, please join us as Houston Gold Merchants enters a new phase of exchange – crypto currency for gold and silver. Welcome to the future – of gold and silver and Bitcoin and Ethereum. We’ll help you get where you want to go.
