When you visit, a representative will examine your gold jewelry and determine its value. Sometimes we’ll need to test it to ensure its gold content. We will present a competitive offer to buy your gold based on weight and karat content (10K, 14K 18K). If you decide to sell your gold, you’ll need a driver’s license or state issued identification.

How much can I get for my gold?

Your gold is worth a great deal, but as with any precious metal, purity is important. The higher the karat weight (purity) the more money you’ll receive. Bring in your gold or silver for a free test. Directions to the store.

Are there any fees?

No fees, hidden or otherwise. Your items are weighed and graded right on the counter. You will receive a cash offer with no hidden fees.

How do I know if I have real gold?

Houston Gold Merchants will test your gold for you. We’ll tell you the value of the items and if there are items that are non-precious metals, we’ll return them to you. Most gold is marked, but some items are not. We’ll inspect it, test it and sort it so that you’ll know what you have.

How do you test it?

Testing is a very simple process. All tests are performed in office, at the counter, in front of customers. The process involves buffing the gold on a small piece of slate and applying a small quantity of nitric acid. Real gold does not dissolve under the acid. View the video.

Do you pay for the stones set in jewelry?

We purchase stones on a case by case basis. If we do not offer to purchase the stones, we can remove them from the jewelry and you take them with you.
