Do you have gold and silver coins to sell in River Oaks, Upper Kirby, Montrose, West University, or Memorial? First, we need to determine what type of coin you have.
Coins are a popular investment type and we see them almost daily at Houston Gold Merchants. But what gold coins do you have? There are several different types of gold bullion. The most popular are American Gold Eagles, which come in 4 different fractional sizes. You may have Gold Eagles in a 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, or 1/10 ounce. Krugerrands are also very popular, coming from South Africa. Krugerrands also come in the 4 different ounce weights, like the American Gold Eagles. Other gold coins that come in fractional sizes are the American Gold Buffalo and the Canadian Maple Leaf. At Houston Gold Merchants, we buy all types of gold coins, and do not limit our purchases to these 4 that are mentioned. Every gold coin has weight, diameter, and thickness specifications which one of our specialists will check during your appointment. Having knowledge of these specifications, you are more likely to not fall victim of a counterfeited coin. Gold coins will be consistent and you won’t find differences between two 1 ounce Gold Eagles, for example. Since there are different gold coin types, the pay out will slightly differ lower or higher, depending on what you have.
What silver coins do you have? The most popular silver coin we see at Houston Gold Merchants is the American Silver Eagle. This coin comes in a 1 ounce size and is larger in diameter than the Gold Eagle. The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is also a 1 ounce coin that we see to be popular. Just like gold coins, we do not limit what silver coins we will purchase. As well as gold, the pay out can be lower or higher depending on what coins you have. Silver coins fall under the same specifications which will be looked at upon your arrival. “Junk” silver is another type we see here a lot at Houston Gold Merchants. Junk silver can be dimes, quarters, half dollars, or dollar coins. These coins are made with 90% silver and must be minted from specific years, which our specialists know. We will walk you through the process as we determine if you have junk silver.
