The best deal you can get when selling gold is one when you 1) get a fair price and 2) you don’t feel like you got ripped off when you leave the store. At Houston Gold Merchants, we make sure both those goals are met.
We show you the prices of gold on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where commodities are traded every day. Since the price of gold changes from moment to moment, many dealers don’t or won’t show you the prices when you sell gold. They won’t even quote you on the price of gold. But if you want to sell gold and you get a quote in the morning, it’s usually pretty close throughout the day…it might be a little different – but not that much. So don’t let the dealer convince you that they can’t quote because the prices change so much…that’s just baloney. Sell your gold to someone who’ll quote you over the phone. There’s no reason for anyone not to give you a price over the phone. It’s quick, easy…very straight forward.
So that’s the first step – we show you the prices of gold. The second step is we weigh the gold in front of you. On a scale that’s where you can see it. It’s not in the back, it’s not under a counter…it’s right there in front of you. If your dealer doesn’t weigh the gold where you can see it, ask yourself why not? What’s he hiding? Any scale that can fit behind closed doors or “in the back” can probably fit on the counter or desk in the front where you can see it. There’s no reason to “take your gold to the back.” Except bad reasons.
So we weigh it in front of you. Then we do the math while you watch…we take the weight, multiply it times the cost per gram and come up with a total. It’s pretty straight forward, too. It’s just math. Nothing confusing, nothing mysterious. Other dealers will spit out a number, “I’ll pay you $900 for all of it,” and that’s it. Take it or leave it. Personally, that’s a little too cloak-and-dagger for me. What are these guys, James Bond? Can I get an explanation as to how we got to this point? Why all the mystery? How about a little background?
I don’t know about you, but if I’m shopping for a car, usually the person will tell me why this car is good, if the tires are new, if the oil’s been changed…I’ll get some background. I’ll learn a little about the vehicle. And at least I’ll learn something about the process.
At Houston Gold Merchants, when you sell your gold, you’ll be learning and getting more money. That’s how we do business. We explain what’s going on. We explain that your gold is worth a certain amount and why it’s worth that amount. We want you to be happy when you sell your gold to us. Because for us, it’s more than selling gold. It’s more than making a buck off someone. It’s being a good citizen. It’s adding to the community. You can sell your gold to a jerk. Or you can get a better price from someone more likable and honest. The choice is yours when you’re selling gold.
